UC Browser gets booted out of Google Play Store albeit temporarily

The highly popular UC Browser app was temporarily removed from the Google Play store owing to concerns that include possible use of unfair practices followed by affiliates looking to promote UC Browser downloads

While Google is yet to officially confirm anything on the development, there has been statements from Ali Baba led UC team whereby they have warned their affiliates from indulging in unfair practices.

In India privacy concerns related to UC web have been floating around for some time. In fact the app was accused of taking away private data from users and sending them across to a server in China.

UC Browser has a huge user base in India with more than 100 million users and the company has previously tried to address issue wherein it mentioned it has strong measures in place for encryption and securing user data.
