Central Govt. to deploy trained GST filers on GST Seva Kendras

In order to make it easy for small businesses and traders to file GST returns, the central government is aiming to tap the GST seva kendras and deploy several trained GST filers in these kendras. These individuals will be those who are currently undergoing training for becoming GST filers and will in-turn help those willing to file their GST returns.

These GST filers will be much like the tax return preparers, who guide people in filing IT returns. These GST filers would soon be placed in kendras to help out not just small businesses and traders but also housewives, freelancers, landlords, etc.

The move comes after the newly launched tax regime faced severe criticism for multi level complexities, especially for small businesses. Although intermediaries like the suvidha providers have already been put in place, people still have a preference for state provided services.

GST Council has been contemplating several proposals to ensure that the compliance to GST does not become a burden for the people. Out of the many proposals that are being considered, one also suggests quarterly filing of GST returns, instead of the earlier planned monthly returns. To reduce cash transactions and to provide exemption from filing invoices, you can opt for paying through cards or e-wallets, this will also make it easier for you to get a rebate on GST.
