Eligibility criteria to open account under Jan Dhan Yojana


Jan Dhan Yojana was launched by Narendra Modi to encourage each family to have at least one bank account where they can put their hard earn money.
All the public sector banks and couple of international banks are enthusiastically in this program in different parts of country.  

Here find the list of Jan Dhan Yojana account opening eligibility criteria-     

1.       Applicant should be an Indian National
2.       Any minor who above 10 years of age is eligible to open an account. Any of his/her guardians can manage the account.
3.       Any individual with the existing account in the bank can also transfers his/her account to Jan Dhan Yojana account to avail benefits from the account.
4.       If any applicant does not have any valid documents then a letter signed by gazette officer, with duly attested photo of applicant would be enough.
5.       Just by chance if the applicant fails to provide requisite proof documents, then the responsibility lies on the shoulder of banks to ground check the applicant. In case the approached banks discover the applicant in “low risk” category he/she will be provided an option to open a temporary account for 1 year. He/she may convert this temporary account in permanent account by providing valid proofs before completing 1 year tenure of bank account.
